The Last Thursday event on Alberta Street began in 1997 and has rapidly grown in popularity over the years. The event is held on the last Thursday of every month (Last Thursday!), year round, with attendance peaking in the summer months. The galleries, studios, restaurants, and other art venues on Alberta Street open their doors for a celebratory evening of art. Generally the galleries are open between 5 to 9:30 P.M.

While Art On Alberta;s mission is to support and promote arts-related events on Alberta Street, it is not responsible for this monthly event. Art On Alberta hosts an open house during Last Thursday, and all are welcome to attend and see the art on display in our offices in the big red house at 1614 NE Alberta Street. Art On Alberta also publishes a monthly Last Thursday Art Map, which identifies the art activities, sponsored by Art On Alberta members.

As part of the street closure for the upcoming Last Thursday Art Walk in September, the Last Thursday Preservation Society is recruiting thoughtful, committed volunteers to help staff the art walk. We need approximately 30-60 people and are asking Alberta St. businesses to please send out a plea for volunteers to their customer mailing lists.

Volunteers will be asked to work September 25th for approximately 4 hours or less.  The more volunteers, the shorter the shifts.

Art On Alberta and the Alberta Art District welcome the participation of all artists and craftspeople who sell art and handmade goods during the monthly Last Thursday events.

A Street Vendor is an individual artist or craftsperson who does not use a formal paid Vendor Booth, and promotes their work on the street. Formal paid Vendor Booths are used during events such as Art On Alberta;s annual Art Hop (in May); if you are a Street Vendor who is interested in acquiring a Vendor Booth at this event, please contact vendors@artonalberta.org for additional information.  Paid vendor spots are also available in September's Street Fair, which is not run by Art On Alberta.  For more information: http://www.albertastreetfair.com/

Please note that Art On Alberta does not promote, register, govern, nor maintain policies, or enforce control upon Street Vendors during the Last Thursday event.

To continue to promote goodwill in our neighborhood, and ensure a positive Last Thursday experience for everyone, Art On Alberta asks that as a Street Vendor participating in Last Thursday events you:

  • acquire permission (as early in the day as possible*) from the business you   wish to position yourself in front of during the event;
  • move your vehicle (if any) to a side street after unloading;
  • avoid blocking the sidewalks;
  • do not have or use any open flames or other dangerous products; and
  • remove all refuse and material from your area at the end of the event.

*Please be aware that Alberta Street merchants release locations on a first-come first-served basis and do not hold or save locations for Street Vendors unless prior arrangements have been made.

Additionally, it is customary to support Art On Alberta's continued support of Last Thursday vendors, by a donation of $20 to Art on Alberta for the entire season.  This is an annual fee which will allow you to be listed as a member on our website with a link to your email or website.  Please visit our membership page for more information.

Art On Alberta is a 501 (C) 3 non-profit and all donations represent a tax-deductible contribution. A check or cash payment should be brought or mailed to:
